Judging Prophecy by J Leman

1 Corinthians 14:29: “Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others pass judgment. “

This is an interesting verse that I believe has been misunderstood. First of all, it is clear that we should judge prophecy. This is not to be confused with judging the prophet, because prophets are people, and judging people is God’s job.

Secondly, most people believe that prophecy solely deals with future, yet this verse implies that the prophecy is to be judged in the church service by the others. How can something that only deals with the future be judged right after it’s given? It can’t be, so what is Paul talking about?

Most people think you judge prophecy on whether it is accurate or not (if the events foretold come to pass.) This is a way to judge prophecy with events regarding the future, but Paul is not referring to that kind of prophecy here. Earlier in the chapter (Corinthians 14:3), Paul states: “But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation.” Paul wanted prophesy to be something that built up people’s identity in Christ, so they would know who they are righteous – sons and daughters of Christ.

Judging prophecy, in this context, is determine if the prophetic word an old covenant or new covenant word. Does the prophecy put the onus on you and what you should do? (Old Covenant) Or does it put the onus on Jesus and on what He has done to make you a righteous, conquering child of God? This is a good rule of the thumb when judging prophecies given to you.

Remember, when you someone prophesies they are speaking for God. To speak correctly for God we must understand God’s nature. To understand God’s nature we must understand that covenant He has bound himself too. He has established the new covenant through the death of His son, a covenant much greater and glorious than the old. A covenant that forgives and remembers our sin and lawless deeds no more! If prophecy does not line up with God’s new covenant of grace do not receive it. I will not bring life!

Why We’re So Passionate About Healing by Tim Brasic

This is the final part of a 7 Part Series on Healing.

I have presented to you six reasons why J and I hunger and thirst for the supernatural like we do. However the last reason I am going to present to you is personally the number one reason why I am contending for healing so bad. It is simple yet so profound.

7. Jesus paid for it on the cross. Let’s look at a few scriptures. Isaiah 53:5 “But he was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. Psalms 103:1-3 “Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases. James 5:14-15”Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. I am pretty sure you have picked up what I am trying to get across. Jesus did not just pay for our sins on the cross, He paid for our healing as well. Almost every time you see a scripture about the forgiveness of sins healing is right there with it. Let’s face it Jesus wouldn’t have taken the lashes and beating that He took if He didn’t have to. Nothing makes me more sick then the thought of the devil just stealing the health of a believer. He has no right and no authority however the church has gone mad and has come up with crazy doctrines to allow sickness to ravage the body of Christ. Some of you might say “Well Tim I understand and I believe but why doesn’t healing always happen?” If Jesus paid for it why don’t we see it?” I am not going to go into all of it right now. I have answers for you and I will expound on them on my teaching series entitled “Destroying Traditions of Man” I just want to finish giving the frame work for why I hunger to see people healed as much as I do. Like I said before, nothing makes me more sick then what the devil has done to the body of Christ concerning the doctrine on healing.

In closing, when you break down healing it really isn’t that complicated. After all our health is everything isn’t it? I guarantee you Steve Jobs would have given up everything he had ever accomplished with Apple just to be healed. I see the faces come to Bethel every day. Desperate people hoping for their miracle, loved ones willing to do anything and give everything to get their healing. We have had a tremendous push and are starting to see great results but we still have such a long way to go. However my mandate God has made clear. I am called to the ministry of Jesus and destroy the works of devil wherever I go and I will not stop until going after healing until I get the results that Jesus promised me. ALL HEALED!

Why We’re So Passionate About Healing by Tim Brasic

This is Part 6 of a 7 Part Series on Healing.

6. This next reason why I am so hungry to see God’s power move in my life is not only biblically mandated but also just common knowledge that I think everyone reading this can attest to. The youth and young adults are fighting sin and temptations that are far beyond anything my generation and generations that have gone before us have had to endure. Everywhere you look sex is right in front of your eyes. We have video games, ipods, social networks, and everything else you can think of to fancy our minds and thoughts. Most of todays music and entertainment is filled with the most raunchy, immoral, and disgusting content you could think of. Let’s just be honest for a second shall we. Sinning can be really fun. I Tim Brasic loved smoking marijuana. I smoked Marijuana for two years and lived as a sexual scumbag until I met the true high Jesus Christ. The power of the Holy Spirit started working in my life and what once used to tickle my fancy now had lost it’s power. We are living in a day and age when just reading your bible and going to church just doesn’t cut it. I have been in high school ministry for the past two years and I know the temptations these kids are battling. Unless the power of the Holy Spirit is made manifest in their lives they have no chance to overcome sin. Don’t get me wrong I am not saying it can’t be done but I have seen the results and the percentage is at least 95 to 5. I mean it is hard to find a genuine Christian who has walked the fine line their entire life. I am blessed to know one of them. He is my best friend, life partner, and spiritual father. His name is J Leman. J will tell you first hand the struggles he had to battle with in high school and college. It was not easy. He didn’t have the power in his life yet he remained faithful. However for every J leman there is fifty others who couldn’t fight of the temptation. Parents you should be worried about your kids if there is no super natural in their life because they will go get their fix through something I promise you that. Why do you think the Occult and witchcraft is growing so rapidly? People are tired of religion and want a true spiritual experience even if it is demonic. Christians are supposed to be the ones who understand the spirit realm yet we act as if it doesn’t exist. How sad is that? Well I will tell you this, I am not going to sit back and let the devil take away our future. The people I encounter will know the real gospel and they will know that there is far more to Christianity then a bible study once a week and church on Sundays. After all it was God’s mandate for the children of Israel to know His acts and ways. “One generation shall praise your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.” (Psalms 145:4) It is God’s plan for His people to live in power and to pass it on to their children.

Why We’re So Passionate About Healing by Tim Brasic

This is Part 5 of a 7 Part Series on Healing.

5. Not only does the supernatural bring the revelation of God’s nature and glory to earth leading many to salvation, it is the key to reaching the darkest places in the world. We find something very interesting in Matthew chapter 11. “Then Jesus began to denounce the towns in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent. “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you. And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades. For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day. But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.”Jesus knew that the power of God had been displayed in these cities and He knew what the result of the people living in the cities should have been. Yet their hearts were filled with unbelief and sever judgment was going to be the result. Bill Johnson says “Miracles are costly”. I think this is a good description of that. You have to remember in the Old Testament “the Word of The Lord was rare” (1Sam2:7) People were lucky to see God’s power manifest and now here He was in the flesh, the exact representation of the Father working the works of the Father and people wanted nothing to do with Him. Just think about Sodom and the immorality that was going on there. The most disgusting acts of sex found in the bible. I can think of many places like it right now in the US. Praise God there is hope for those places. If Jesus would have been around to show Sodom the supernatural power of God they would have remained to this day. Well we all have Jesus living in us now and all that Vegas and New Orleans is waiting for is the people of God to walk in resurrection power performing signs and wonders proving to them that this God Jesus is far more than some religion.

This is Part 4 of a 7 Part Series on Healing.

4. Signs and wonders reveal the glory of God and lead people to salvation. In the second chapter of John after Jesus turns water into wine we find this said in verse 11 “This was the first of His signs Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee, thus revealing His glory, and His disciples believed in Him. We see this over and over in scripture. Just read the gospels and the book of Acts. There are too many scriptures to put down but you find the same theme all the time. A supernaturalsign is done by the hands of a Spirit- filled believer and validates the message that is being preached. What follows? Multiplication salvation! It is the abc’s of evangelism. Praise God for guys like John Wimber and Bill Johnson who wanted to go farther than just handing out tracks on the street corner. They knew the early church needed the power of the Holy Spirit to perform the super natural to seek the lost and they have paved the way for a new generation of radical believers to walk in this mandate.
